This is the Indice Sectorial de Telecomunicacoes (ITEL) Index, which is designedto measure the performance of the telecommunications sector. The index includesfixed or landline phone companies as well as cellular phone companies which are listed on the Bovespa Exchange. It has a base value of 1000 and a base date as of Dec. 31, 1999. The Shares in the Index are displayed in thousands.
