S&P/ASX 300 is extensively used as a performance benchmark index. The index is highly liquid, float-adjusted and includes up to 300 of Australia's largest securities by float-adjusted market capitalization. The S&P/ASX 300 index includes the large cap, mid cap and small cap components of the S&P/ASX index family. The index was launched in April 2000.
